Celine Dion Health Today: 5 Amazing Facts on Her Comeback Celine Dion health today is the question every fan is asking in September 2026. After four years away
Celine Dion health today is the question every fan is asking in September 2026. After four years away from the stage, the Queen of Power Ballads is back. Is she cured? What is she doing today? Here is what science and her team really say.
In December 2022, Celine Dion announced she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder of the nervous system often resulting in progressive, severe muscle stiffness and spasms.
The disease is extremely rare – about 1 in a million – and attacks the muscles, including those of the throat. It causes uncontrollable spasms, rigidity, and makes it impossible to sing or even walk.
Celine revealed she had suffered symptoms for 17 years before getting a name for it. Her health battle was documented in the 2024 documentary “I Am: CĂ©line Dion,” which offered an intimate look at the severity of her condition, including a painful episode in which Dion’s body became rigid and she was unable to move.
As we explain in our guide on rare diseases and celebrity health, stiff-person syndrome has no current cure.
Celine has not beaten the disease. She said it herself to Vogue France: “I haven’t beat the disease, as it’s still within me and always will be”, and she hopes to “find a miracle” while fighting it.
Since her diagnosis, Dion has undergone extensive treatment, including medication, physical therapy, vocal therapy and immunotherapy, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
Her daily protocol includes:
Doctors say the disease is progressive but can be managed. For Celine, management means a military-style routine.
This is the amazing part. Despite a diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, Celine Dion will perform 16 shows in Paris over the next two months.
Published September 12, 2026 at 7:04 AM CDT, NPR confirmed her return: Celine Dion returns to the stage tonight after four years.
More details from Le Monde: Having overcome the worst phases of the stiff-person syndrome, Céline Dion will return to the stage at Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, just west of Paris, on Saturday, September 12. It will begin her 26-date residency in the Paris region, which has been organized into two series, the first in autumn with 480,000 tickets sold.
What she is doing today:
Paris is not random – France is where she had her first international hit and has a huge fan base.
Few doubted she could still sing. What nobody knew was whether she could get through a whole show.
The answer: Yes, but differently. Her team adapted the show:
Fans who were there say her voice is slightly deeper but still powerful. The emotion, they say, is even stronger.
Celine is 58 in 2026. She lives between Las Vegas and Paris with her three sons. She posts regularly on Instagram to raise awareness for stiff-person syndrome, for which there is no current cure.
What is next after Paris?
Her message today is not “I am cured” but “I am living with it.” And that is why her comeback is so powerful.
